2. Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you use our services, we may collect the following information:

Email address and name (received from Google when you sign in with your Google account; we use the OAuth scopes openid, email, and profile for sign-in only)
Resume/CV content you upload (stored only in your browser's local storage on your device, not on our servers)
Job-application profile you enter into the extension (current role, skills, experience, CTC, location, notice period)
LinkedIn job-post text from posts you click the “Apply AI” button on (sent to our AI service to draft a personalized email)
Payment information (processed securely through third-party payment providers; we never store card or bank details)

Gmail Send Access (gmail.send scope)

If you grant the optional https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send scope during Google sign-in, we use it only to send a single email at a time, and only when you click the “Send via Gmail” button after reviewing the AI-drafted email in our extension. We do not read, list, search, modify, or otherwise access any email in your Gmail account. We do not store the contents of emails we send (only metadata: timestamp, recipient address, and subject — kept for your application history view).

Extension usage patterns and feature interactions

3. How We Use Your Information

To generate personalized AI emails from the LinkedIn job-post text you submit when you click “Apply AI”
To send the email you reviewed and approved, via the Gmail API on your behalf, when you click “Send via Gmail”
To maintain your application history (timestamp, recipient, subject) and credit balance
To process payments and manage your account
To communicate with you about updates, support, and security
To detect and prevent fraud or abuse (rate limiting, suspicious activity logs)

We do NOT use Gmail data, or any data obtained from Google APIs, to train, develop, or improve any AI or machine learning models, generalized or otherwise. AI generation uses only the LinkedIn job-post text and the profile data you typed yourself.

4. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All data transmissions are encrypted using SSL/TLS. Your resume content is processed in real-time and is not permanently stored on our servers unless you explicitly save it. Payment processing is handled by certified third-party providers — we never store your credit card or bank details.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

With payment processors to complete transactions
With AI service providers to generate application content (anonymized where possible)
When required by law or legal process
To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property

5a. Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use

JobApplyAI's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, with respect to data obtained through Google APIs (including Gmail data accessed via the gmail.send scope), we affirm that we:

Use the data only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the requesting application's user interface (i.e., the in-extension “Send via Gmail” button)
Do not transfer the data to others except as necessary to provide or improve those features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with the user's consent
Do not use the data for advertising, including retargeting, personalized advertising, or interest-based advertising
Do not allow humans to read the data unless we have obtained the user's affirmative consent for specific messages, doing so is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), to comply with applicable law, or for our internal operations and even then only when the data have been aggregated and anonymized
Do not use Gmail data to develop, improve, or train generalized AI and/or ML models

6. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses cookies to improve user experience, analyze website traffic, and remember your preferences. You can control cookie settings through your browser. The Chrome extension does not use tracking cookies but stores local data (such as your authentication token and preferences) in your browser's local storage.
